Suzuki has launched a special edition of the SV1000 V-twin to celebrate the 20th year of the iconic GSX-R series of sports bikes.
The SV1000SZ has a full fairing designed to match the bodywork of the new GSX-R1000 K5 and painted in the signature blue and white of the big sports fours.
The frame, swing-arm and wheels are all black, as on the K5, rather than silver like the standard half-faired SV1000S.
The compression ratio of the 996cc V-twin has been raised from 11.3 to 11.6:1 to deliver an extra 3.7kW and the engine mapping has been re-tuned for quicker throttle response.
The limited-edition SV1000SZ sell in Britain for £6499 (about R76 000 at 16/05/05) instead of £6099 (R71 500) for the half-faired model.
- Suzuki SA's Steve Swanepoel says there are no plans at present to bring the anniversary special SV1000SZ to South Africa
