New from Hyosung and just arrived at Cayenne dealers countrywide is the Hyosung X-5 250, a value-for-money, lightweight sports motorcycle retailing for R35 900.

Following its world launch at the Milan motorcycle show in November, the Korean-made motorcycle made its track debut at the Korea Road Race Championship held at the Yeongam F1 National Stadium.

It took first place in the 250 class.

NIPPY HANDLING

The X-5 is designed for nippy handling due to its compact size and lightweight construction, along with a short wheelbase.

Suspension is by upside-down front forks, dual sided aluminium swing arm and a gas-charged hydraulic rear monoshock which is pre load adjustable.

Its power plant is a fuel-injected, DOHC, four-valve, single-cylinder engine, rated for 21.2kW at 8500rpm and 26.1Nm at 7000rpm, with a six-speed transmission.

STREET FIGHTER

Braking is by dual discs with a four-piston caliper on the front and a two-piston caliper at the rear.

Stripped of fairings, the X-5 has an appealing “street fighter” look that makes it stand out from the commuter-bike crowd.
