The XJ6 - Yamaha's contender for motorcycling's middleweight crown - is on its way to South Africa.

The bike's clean lines and contemporary design, Yammy says, have been augmented with a combination of a light, tubular, diamond-type frame and 41mm front forks.

The Monocross rear suspension means easy handling and agility, whether you're cruising down the highway or along a country lane.

The 600cc, four-stroke four is liquid-cooled and has all-new internals. The easy-action clutch gives smooth shifts and the four-into-one exhaust and compact midships silencer give the XJ6 a sporty look.

The XJ6 is expected on South Africa in April 2009 at an estimated retail price of around R70 000.
