Alfa Romeo will be appeasing hot hatch fans at the Geneva Motor Show next week with a newly revised Giulietta 'Quadrifoglio Verde' model.

The Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde's heart is the latest version of Alfa Romeo's 1750cc turbopetrol engine, also found in the 4C. The direct injection motor, complete with scavenging control, pushes 179kW at 6000rpm and 340Nm between 2100 and 4000rpm - with 80 percent of total twisting force at your command from just 1800rpm.

Alfa Romeo claims a zero to 96km/h sprint time of just 6.6 seconds, which makes it 0.2 seconds quicker off the mark than the current QV, and a top speed of 240km/h.

To ensure that the engine sounds the part too, engineers developed a new fuel intake unit.

This Giulietta's engine is linked to a six-speed TCT twin dry-clutch gearbox, which can be operated via flappy paddles on the steering wheel.

Visually you'll be able to tell the Quadrifoglio Verde apart through various glossy anthracite finishes, side skirts, rear spoiler, large tail pipes and new anthracite alloy wheels. The cabin features new wraparound sports front seats with integrated head rests and a combination of leather and Alcantara upholstery.

To celebrate the release of the new QV in style, Alfa Romeo will be offering a Launch Edition that's limited to 500 cars. This one will be set apart by five-hole 18-inch alloys, as well as carbon spoilers, front and rear sports air dams and side skirts.

Colour choices for the Launch Edition are limited to Competizione Red (triple coat), Alfa Red and Matte Magnesio Grey. We'll take that first option.
