Mercedes-Benz SA has announced the C-Class Style Edition, a value-added model whose launch coincides with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. It also happens to coincide with the local media launch of the new BMW 3 Series.

The big deal with the Style Edition is that it essentially offers a 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox for the price of a manual model.

Other highlights include 'five-twin-spoke' 17-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights and an Avantgarde-style grille with a centrally-placed Mercedes-Benz star logo.

The Style Edition is available in C180, C200 and C200 CDI BlueEfficiency guises. The former two are powered by a 1.8-litre turbopetrol engine, good for 115kW and 250Nm in the C180 and 135kW/270Nm in the C200.

The CDI is motivated by a 100kW/360Nm 2143cc turbodiesel mill that's said to consume just 5.3 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.

PRICES:

C 180 BlueEfficiency Style Edition - R359 000

C 200 BlueEfficiency Style Edition - R379 000

C 200 CDI BlueEfficiency Style Edition - R380 000
