BMW's newly-announced M4 Coupé will soon have a Japanese Samurai warrior to contend with.

Lexus has just announced the 'F' version of its new RC Coupé and its radical, head-turning looks will be backed up by the most powerful V8 engine ever developed by Lexus.

This means it will surpass the previous IS F sedan, which shunted out 311kW and 505Nm, although the Lexus white coats are not yet telling us exactly how powerful the new RC F is, nor are they divulging any performance numbers.

All we're left to do then, it admire its bold bodywork in these first official images - or insult it if you think it's too OTT.


Whichever way, it certainly makes a statement with its aggressive exterior styling kit, which includes fins, air scoops, cooling ducts, numerous carbon fibre components and an active rear wing that deploys from the boot lid at 80km/h.

The low-slung RC F is perched on 10-spoke, 19-inch alloy wheels that are available in three variations, including two machine-polished designs and one that's hand-polished by a craftsman.


Upon stepping inside, the driver is greeted by a uniquely-kitted interior designed to reflect the beastly nature of the RC F. Looking ahead, the instrument panel has a central metre that does something of a chameleon act when the driver dials in one of the four driver-selectable driving modes.

The cabin's long list of tasty garnishes include an elliptical cross-section thick-grip steering wheel (a Lexus first) and high-back racing seats that are available in five leather trim options, all with contrasting stitching.


Lexus will likely make all the pertinent RC F information, including the numbers, available when it reveals the car to the public at the North American International Motor Show next week Tuesday (January 14).
