Lexus will debut the production version of its LF-NX crossover, at the Beijing motor show on 20 April - which gives us a clue as to where Toyota expects its major market for the premium mid-size SUV to be.

As you can see from the teaser image, most of the striking design features of the concept shown at the 2013 Frankfurt and Tokyo motor shows are still there, albeit massaged and manicured to a considerably more Lexus-like smoothness.

CRISP STYLING

Clearly visible are the signature Lexus spindle grille, tick-shaped running lights and crisp, very European design language in the Italian 'piega' (crease) tradition.

Lexus has yet to offer any technical details other than to promise “advanced technologies that will set new standards for other, future Lexus models”, which we assume means the all-new, direct-injection two-litre turbopetrol four that made its appearance in the final version of the concept.

If we're right, it will be the first production Lexus engine with a hair-drier; expect a hybrid version not too far down the line as well .
