Stuttgart, Germany - With the upgraded A-Class now happily pounding the streets, its CLA sedan sibling is getting its turn in the midlife makeover salon.

The CLA, which its maker likes to think of as a four-door coupé of sorts, receives a subtle facelift and various interior enhancements and you can expect it on local shores around September.

The bulk of the visual changes take place up front and although no radical alterations take place here, there is a new bumper and a diamond grille (previously reserved for top models) is now standard across the line-up while LED High Performance headlamps join the options list.

Mercedes is also offering a new paint colour called Cavansite blue, while the range of alloy wheel options has been "significantly extended".

The interior makeover is a subtle collection of new trim garnishes and seat upholsteries, and let's not forget the new chrome-plated controls, the redesigned dials with red needles and the slimmer-looking 20.3cm central display screen - the latter being available with the Audio 20 systems.

Another option is the updated Smartphone Integration system that allows the latest devices to pair via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Though the local engine range has yet to be announced, the line-up four-cylinder all-turbo line-up is likely to remain as before, offering a C200 (115kW/250Nm), C220 diesel (130kW/350Nm), C250 (155kW/350Nm) and the all-wheel-drive C45 AMG fire-breather with 280kW and 475kW. We'll take that one.
