Next Renault Clio could be a stunner

Unless we're speaking of the RS, it's unlikely that the name Clio comes up when you're thinking of desirable hatchbacks, but that's likely to change with the next generation.

Renault it set to pull the covers off its all-new, fourth-generation Clio at the Paris Motor Show this September and the alleged leaked teaser shot you see here shows part of the side-rear view.

Here the Alfa-style hidden rear door handles, pronounced shoulder line and aggressively-shaped taillights hint at a far more emotional design language for Renault's rival to the Ford Fiesta and VW Polo.

We have yet to see the front end of the new Clio, but this part of the car will most certainly show off Renault's new family face that was first seen on the radical Dezir concept car. Expect it to look quite similar to the Zoe electric car.

Various sources suggest that the interior design will also be far more emotional than that of the current Clio, and with a matching leap in perceptive quality.

Not much is known about the Clio's mechanical content at this stage, but news reports from abroad indicate that the little Renault will sport a new range of downsized and turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, kicking off with a 67kW three-cylinder petrol motor.

It's also believed that the RenaultSport version will ditch its high-revving naturally aspirated 2-litre engine for a smaller turbo unit, something that will surely upset its fan base.
