Nissan has unveiled the latest version of its Note, a small MPV that goes head-to-head with the Honda Jazz. A global product, it replaces the original Note in Europe and it's widely speculated to be the replacement for the Versa (Tiida) hatchback in the USA. Still no word on whether this Micra-based family transportation device will be released in South Africa though.
Its exterior design was inspired by the recent Nissan Invitation concept car and although it's unlikely to get any pulses racing, it is fairly sharp by MPV standards and has some elaborate body creasing.
BIRD’S EYE VIEW
Nissan's biggest boast on the technological front is that its Around View Monitor will be available as an option. This gizmo gives you a bird's eye view illustration of the vehicle via its central dashboard screen.
Japanese customers will be offered a choice between two engines, one of which is Nissan's 1.2-litre supercharged direct injection three-cylinder DIG-S engine. No outputs have been disclosed, but the version in the Micra is good for 72kW and 142Nm. All versions will be mated to Nissan's XTronic CVT transmission.
Nissan will build the Note at its Kyushu plant in Japan and at its Sunderland facility in the UK.
European models, which may differ slightly from the Japanese specification you see here, will go on stream next year.
