This is the white one. There will also be one in red and one in blue - and that's it. The North American Special Edition of the Zenvo ST-1.

Zen who?

Zenvo Automotive is Denmark's first supercar maker, and its first model, the "standard" ST-1 (of which 15 will be made) comes with the company's own seven-litre turbocharged V8 (completely handmade in-house), for which Zenvo founder Jesper Jensen claims 814kW and 1430Nm.

It drives through either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission.

Performance? 0-100km/h in three seconds flat and top speed LIMITED to 375km/h.

Onboard diagnostics allow the factory to check the car remotely, reset systems and even upload new engine and transmission software. And if anything goes wrong, Zenvo's concierge service will fly in and repair the car, wherever in the world you are.

Several years of development and testing went into the design before the launch of the production version in 2010 and Jensen says: "We never set out to create the most reliable supercar, but it seems now that we have!"

Now he and Zenvo's and US agent Red Sea Distribution have created the ST-1 50S (50 US states, Cyril), one each in red, white and blue, their engines tweaked to deliver 922kW and 1500Nm, with standard paddle-shift transmission, magnesium rims, numbered plaques and specially monogrammed seats. Each car also comes with a special, Swiss made, Aspen Zenvo watch worth $49 000 (R337 000).

Price? $1.8 million (R12.4 million) ex factory, not including local taxes.
