If there is a world capital of hot convertibles, it's Los Angeles, California - so what better place to introduce to the world the convertible version of Jaguar's performance flagship coupé, the XKR-S.

The 405kW roadster and its hardtop sibling (the fastest and most powerful production Jaguars yet) will be joined on the Jaguar Land Rover stand in LA by the CX16 production concept, first seen at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

This will be the first public appearance in North America of Ian Callum's gorgeous little V6 hybrid two-seater, which has been described as “classic Jaguar - with an edge”.

Also making their New World debut after first breaking cover at Frankfurt will be Land Rover's DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts, which were at first thought to indicate a possible Defender replacement, until they got a (very) mixed reception in Germany.

Now Land Rover tell us the Defender will soldier on for the foreseeable future while the process of conceptualising its successor continues. The DC100 has apparently been restyled for Los Angeles with a new paint job in “Heritage Blue”, new rims and serious off-road rubber - but Jaguar Land Rover is keeping it under wraps until the official unveiling on Wednesday, so no pictures until then.
