Viper guts + Saab body = insane wagon

We've heard of many conversions in which big, brawny American powertrains are mated with the bodies of subtler European cars, but this is surely one of the craziest.

Perhaps a glimmer of hope to some, as the Saab brand faces turbulent times, is this concoction that mates mostly Dodge Viper mechanicals with a Saab 9-3 SportCombi body.

This once-off creation by a Swedish petrol head seems to have been engineered quite meticulously, with the chassis having been strengthened and a bespoke suspension has been fitted.

Beneath the bonnet lurks the Viper's 8.4-litre V10 mill that shunts out 447kW and 760Nm.

As interesting as the car itself is the fact that its creation was inspired by 'accident' - the owner rolled his Dodge Viper, so we imagine the body was badly wrecked but the chassis and engine still useable.

Be careful which 'mom's taxi' you look for trouble with at the robots next time you're in Sweden.
