Lewis Hamilton has ramped up the pressure on McLaren ahead of back-to-back races in Germany and Hungary by insisting they must provide him with a winning car if he is to re-sign with them.

Hamilton, whose contract with McLaren will expire at the end of the season, revealed he intends to sort out his future in Formula One’s summer break in August.

And the 2008 World champion left his employers in no doubt that they must get their act together in the next two Grands Prix despite conceding it will be difficult to turn his back on the team he joined as a 13-year-old.

“I want to win”

“McLaren have supported me; these people got me into Formula One,’ he said.

“But I’m not that young any more so I want to make sure that, whatever I do, that I make the right decision so I can maximise my career.’

LIMITED OPTIONS

Hamilton’s options outside of McLaren appear to be limited with no seat at Red Bull available after Mark Webber signed on for another season last week. In addition, a reunion at Ferrari with former McLaren team mate Fernando Alonso, with whom Hamilton, 27, endured a fractious debut season in 2007, is unlikely.

Mercedes represent a possible destination depending on whether Michael Schumacher opts to retire a second time, while Sportsmail revealed last week that Hamilton would entertain talks with surprise package Lotus. - Daily Mail
