Euro NCAP had a busy year in 2012, the independent crash testing authority having assessed no less than 36 vehicles during the year.

After having tallied up all the results, Euro NCAP has announced the class winners of eight categories, spanning the continuum between small hatchbacks and large SUVs.

The winners performed admirably in each of the four individual assessing criteria, namely adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist systems. Naturally, each vehicle achieved an overall rating of five stars.
