Sydney - Australian police have arrested a man for driving a motorised ice-box.

ABC.net reported that the driver was arrested late on Monday and charged with not having a driving licence and for driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle.

Police said the insulated plastic drinks chest, or Esky as they are known in Australia, could not be used legally on public roads in South Australia state.

IMPOUNDED

Pictures showed the blue-and-white box mounted on a four-wheeled frame equipped with a petrol engine and a set of handlebars, being impounded on the back of a flatbed truck.

Such novelty motor vehicles “cannot be legally driven or ridden on the road,” Senior Sergeant Nils Uellendahl was quoted as saying, and were for “private property novelty use only”.
