Stuttgart - Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche is set to step down from his position at the end of May 2019 and just as we’d expect, the highly likeable leader has put a humorous spin on his final year-end video.

It’s set around a job interview, which we can say takes place in a very northerly location as you’ll find out further into the video (skip to 2:55 if you want a spoiler).

But before the ‘new position’ is discussed, the interviewer first asks Zetsche if there isn’t something more suitable for him at Mercedes parent company Daimler - and it’s here that we get to see him trying to perform tasks like fitting car doors on the assembly line and trying to squeeze into Lewis Hamilton’s racing overalls.

But finally it emerges that there is another job outside of Daimler that might be more suited to the generously mustachioed leader - although quite a bit more facial hair would no doubt be required.

The video is a tribute to his staff, posted with this short but heartfelt message:

“My colleagues have done an amazing job this year and brought tremendous passion to their work. That’s why I’d like to say THANK YOU – as always via a short video for the holidays.”

While Zetsche departs from his current position in 2019, he will be returning as a member of the Supervisory Board in 2021 following a mandatory “cooling-off period”. That’s presuming he doesn’t get too attached to life on the slay…
