Johannesburg - No decision has been taken to introduce the e-tolling system in KwaZulu-Natal, the transport ministry said on Friday.
“Any decision to introduce any form of tolling in any part of the country will be taken in consultation with authorities,” said Transport Minister Dipuo Peters in a statement.
The decision could only be taken after consultation with affected parties.
“I therefore wish to clarify reports that a decision has been taken to introduce electronic tolling in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal as untrue.”
She said although the country needed to resolve the current road infrastructure backlog, it was important to consult thoroughly with potentially affected parties.
