If cars are close to your heart then there is something distinctly disturbing about watching a man deliberately destroying a fine piece of automotive engineering.

Yet sometimes owners just get to their wits end with the service they've received and, if they're in an economic bracket that makes burning money feasible, will actually destroy their car in public just to prove a point.

It happened earlier this year when a Chinese Maserati owner bashed his Quattroporte with a sledgehammer and now a BMW M6 owner from Italy has followed suit.

To give the biggest possible symbolic middle finger to BMW, Pourmohseni Hadi, with the help of a friend, smashed his previous-generation M6 with a sledgehammer in a street outside the Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to The Mirror, Hadi's car (which is fitted with a 373kW V10 engine and SMG gearbox) had been plagued by defects like jolty gear-shifts and numerous rattles and vibrations.

The man claims that none of the numerous dealerships that he sent the car to were able to fix the faults and that BMW's head office had not resolved the issue.

"I have written BMW a letter - no response. Now I answer! With this action!" he exclaimed when questioned by The Bild newspaper.

Hadi claimed that BMW had "pushed the responsibility back and forth" although since the smashing incident BMW is reportedly investigating the situation.
