Australians were marveling on Friday at the honesty of a Melbourne taxi driver who returned 110 000 Australian dollars (R1.05 million) in cash left in his cab by gamblers on their way to the city's Crown casino.

Lakhwinder Singh Dhillon did not hesitate to drive back to the casino with the 11 wads of notes.

“When I gave them the bag they gave me 500 dollars and said 'This is your prize. You're a very honest man. We've never seen an honest man like you. You are too good'.”

Crown spokesman Gary O'Neill said the men were regulars at the casino and the honest cabbie was in for another reward: dinner for two and a free night's accommodation at the Crown. - Sapa-dpa
