Johannesburg - Toyota is now offering some extra peace of mind to South African customers, with two new extended warranty plans.
The new Toyota Genuine Unlimited Warranty is available for vehicles that are still covered by the standard 3-year/100 000km factory warranty, and have not skipped more than one scheduled service. This product is basically an extension of the existing warranty by a choice of up to six or eight years, with no mileage limitations.
Wear and tear items covered under the policy include replacement shock absorbers, clutch kits and one brake disc skimming per year. Complete vehicle failures or malfunctions as a result of wear and tear on the engine, transmission or drivetrain are covered for up to 250 000km. Hybrid models benefit from a 10-year/unlimited km extension only, which covers all hybrid components including the battery.
A second plan, called Toyota Genuine Pre-Owned Warranty+, covers vehicles no longer within the factory warranty, but not older than seven years or 200 000km. Only vehicles which have not missed more than two (non-consecutive) services are eligible. This plan reinstates cover for a period of two years or up to 250 000km, and offers the same levels of cover as the factory warranty. Roadside assistance is included.
Pricing for Toyota Genuine Unlimited Warranties:
- Petrol models with engine capacities up to 2000cc: pricing starts at R3340 or R155.15 (over 24 months) for 6-Years/unlimited; R5 230 or R251.57 (over 24 months) for 8-Years/unlimited.
- Petrol models with engine capacities over 2000cc/1.2 Turbo: pricing starts at R7 870 or R388.86 (over 24 months) for 6-Years/unlimited; R10 290 or R511.54 (over 24 months) for 8-Years/unlimited.
- Diesel models up to 3000cc: pricing starts at R6 995 or R343.72 (over 24 months) for 6-Years/unlimited; R9 730 or R482.76 (over 24 months) for 8-Years/unlimited.
- Diesel models over 3000cc: pricing starts at R10 460 or R522.48 (over 24 months) for 6-Years/unlimited; R16 815 or R846.76 (over 24 months) for 8-Years/unlimited.
- All Hybrid models: pricing starts at R11 000 or R547.58 (over 24 months) for 10-Years/unlimited.
Pricing for Toyota Genuine Pre-Owned Warranty+ (2 Year/Max 250 000km) is as follows:
- Petrol models with engine capacities up to 2000cc: pricing starts at R4 830 or R231.66 (over 24 months).
- Petrol models with engine capacities over 2000cc/1.2 Turbo: pricing starts R9 640 or R478.78 (over 24 months).
- Diesel models up to 3000cc: pricing starts R10 465 or R521.17 (over 24 months).
- Diesel models over 3000cc: pricing starts R11 815 or R590.52 (over 24 months).
- All Hybrid models: pricing starts R10 705 or R533.50 (over 24 months).
All repairs under these new warranty plans will be done by Toyota dealers with Toyota Genuine Parts. Vehicles older than five years covered by either of the plans will continue to qualify for the existing Toyota Value Service (capped labour rate and discounted parts) at Toyota dealers. Neither of these warranties are available for Quantum Ses'fikile and Dyna models.
