Nürburg, Germany - The performance SUV war is now in full swing, with the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4Matic+ having just snatched the Nürburgring North Loop record for SUVs away from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
According to Mercedes-AMG the GLC set the record of 7 minutes and 49.369 seconds on its first attempt, albeit by a mere two seconds, with AMG development engineer Markus Hofbauer at the wheel.
As per the rules, the vehicle was bog standard, powered by the firm’s 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces 375kW and 700Nm.
That’s enough to get the slegehammer of an SUV from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, according to claims.
The GLC 63 S is also fitted with AMG’s 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system with fully variable torque distribution, with handling further sharpened by a locking rear axle differential and standard 20-inch wheels.
