Hamburg - German police were on Thursday investigating whether an overnight suspected arson attack at a Porsche dealership in Hamburg was linked to the upcoming G20 summit which the city is hosting.

Eight cars were nearly entirely destroyed by fire at the dealership in the suburb of Eidelstedt.

Investigators found accelerants at the scene and believe the fire was deliberate, a spokesman said.

Alongside the tens of thousands of peaceful protesters, authorities anticipate that up to 8000 potentially violent demonstrators from Germany and abroad could disrupt the G20 summit, which is set to take place on Friday and Saturday in Germany's second-largest city.
