Gaydon, England - Aston Martin has confirmed it will launch a radical new battery-powered SUV under the Lagonda brand name.

Due in 2021, the crossover will have an exterior design inspired by the wedge-shaped ‘Vision Concept’ that was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March - and we say crossover because in our eyes it looks far more car than SUV.

In fact, the company claims the showroom car will “retain the boldness” of this concept car, pictured above.

Not much else is known about the crossover at this point, besides the fact that it will be battery powered and it will be the first of many “emission-free” luxury vehicles that the company plans to launch.

Says Aston Martin boss Dr Andy Palmer: “In reviving one of the most iconic names in motoring we have created a unique opportunity.

“One that allows us to cast aside an inherited 20th century approach and instead design cars around 21st century demands and desires. The Lagonda SUV is the first of its kind: a spacious, high-performance 4x4 that successfully reconciles a love of technology, luxury and style.”

Our curiosity is certainly piqued.
