Ingolstadt - Audi has revealed the SQ2 ahead of the Paris Motor Show and it brings the company’s smallest crossover into a new performance league - think of it as an S3 on stilts.

Powered by the S3’s 2-litre turbopetrol engine, producing 221kW and 400Nm, the SQ2 can run from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, according to Audi, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.

The SQ2 rides on 18 or 19-inch wheels and Audi had the sense to lower the vehicle by 20mm to enhance handling, while also lending some ‘S’ flavour to the suspension tuning and steering characteristics.

Power goes to all four wheels through a seven-speed S Tronic dual clutch gearbox and quattro all-wheel-drive, which can direct up to 100 percent of the torque to the rear wheels if required.

Exterior styling is flavoured up with an S-style grille featuring vertical slats, dark grey bumper garnishes, a larger roof spoiler and a diffuser housing four tailpipes - although we can’t see the latter just yet as Audi has only released a single frontal picture.

This means we can’t see the cabin just yet either, although Audi says it is set apart from regular Q2s by black headlining and seat upholstery as well as matt brushed aluminium inlays and stainless steel pedal caps.
