Ingolstadt - Audi’s A4 has been sharpened up for the 2019 model year, with mild design tweaks inside and out.

The external changes apply from the ‘design’ and ‘sport’ model grades upwards, and include a new bumper design with pentagonal contours surrounding the lower air inlets.

The new S Line equipment grade is distinguished by a more pronounced wedge-shaped front bumper design, which also includes a lower blade below the grille, and this version will be available in a new paint finish called Turbo Blue.

The grille also serves as a differentiator between equipment lines and in the S Line’s case it features ‘3D look’ slats.

A new look rear bumper rounds off the styling changes, complete with a narrower diffuser and new trapezoidal (previously round) exhaust tips.

In addition, the 2019 A4 will be offered with a range of newly designed wheels, ranging from 16 to 19 inches in diameter.

The S Line versions are further distinguished by bespoke Audi Sport 19” wheels, as well as red brake calipers, sport suspension and LED headlights, and the cabin is decked out with RS carbon inlays and black partial leather sports seats, although customers can upgrade to ‘S’ seats in magma red or other colours.

No mechanical or technological changes have been announced, meaning the A4 will continue with the current range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, which in SA includes a 110kW 1.4 TSI, 140kW 2.0 TSI, 185kW 2.0 TSI quattro and 140kW 2.0 TDI.

This mildly refreshed A4 is set to go on sale in South Africa in late October. A more comprehensive facelift is expected further down the line.
