They're here - all 10 of them - and you can have any colour you want, as long as it's black. Out of a worldwide production of 2000, Citroen SA has managed to snag just 10 examples of the DS3 Racing.
But be warned: this is not a cosmetic makeover. Each DS3 Racing is modified and hand-finished by the Citroen racing team in their rally workshop, with revised engine mapping, tweaked turbo and special tailpipe and muffler (read loud).
The result is almost 30 percent more power - up from 115 to 152kW! - and 15 percent more torque (was 240Nm, now 275) - good enough, says Citroen, for 0-100 in 6.5sec and a top end of 235km/h.
The steering has been made even more precise, with the control system modified for the new tyres. Stiffer springs, revised dampers, 30mm wider track and a 15mm lower ride height dramatically tauten the car's handling.
The brakes have also been uprated, with four-piston racing callipers and special discs in front, and drilled discs at the rear. The electronic stability system has been reprogrammed to complement the sportier handling, but can also be switched off.
The DS3 Racing's black body contrasts with a bright orange roof, side mirrors and brake callipers, and the 18" alloy rims and grille trim - with integrated chevrons - are finished in orange chrome.
There's carbon-fibre on the front bumper, lower body trim and wing extensions, contrasted with chromed door handles, a DS3 Racing signature on the rear tailgate and a chrome-tipped exhaust. A carbon-finished air diffuser stabilises the car at high speeds.
More carbon fibre adorns the dashboard, centre console, steering wheel trim, armrests and door side mouldings. The exterior trim continues with the glossy strip of the dash, gear stick and gear stick surround; the deep sports seats are also picked out with orange elements and embossed with 'Citroen Racing'.
Of the 10 consigned to South Africa, one was bought and paid for before it got here and six more are spoken for. According to IOL's pocket abacus, that means you have just three chances left to grab one.
Which will cost you R399 900, including a three-year or 100 000km warranty, four-year or 60 000km service plan and three-years' roadside assistance.
You can extend both warranty and service plan to five years or 100 000km for an extra R10 782, or upgrade to a Freedrive five-year or 100 000km maintenance plan for R19 464.
