Foton SA has created a special edition of its Tunland double cab bakkie called the Granite. Priced at R329 995, the newcomer commands a R10 000 premium over the 4x2 Luxury model that it's based on.
It's available in white and silver and when it comes to the accessories, black is very evidently the new black. To that end, the edition is set apart by black 'Hazzard' alloy wheels with Cooper all-terrain tyres as well as black wheel arch mouldings, nudge bar and sports bar. The ride height also appears to have been raised.
Inside the only real difference is a few Granite logos and like the Luxury model that it's based on, the vehicle is fitted with leather seats, a four-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, electric windows and a multi-function steering wheel.
The engine is also as per the rest of the Tunland range, in the form of a 2.8-litre Cummins ISF turbodiesel rated at 120kW and 360Nm. Foton claims a braked towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes.
The Tunland, imported by Imperial, is sold with a five-year/100 000km warranty and double cabs also come with a two-year/40 000 service plan. Service intervals are pegged at 10 000km and Foton puts this down to the fact that it can run on dirty 500ppm diesel.
