Mahindra adds bakkies to SA range

Mahindra has launched its workhorse Bolero bakkie into the South African utility sector of the market to join the Scorpio SUV launched here in October, 2004.

The Bolero comes in single and double-cab models, each powered by a 2.5-litre, intercooled turbodiesel for which Mahindra claims 69kW and 210Nm, and driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. All-wheel driver is also available.

It has a ladder chassis and double load-box sides. Front suspension is by independent torsion bars with anti-roll bar while the rear suspension has progressive torsion leaf springs.

It has disc front and drum rear brakes and rides on 15" steel rims shod with 235/75 tyres.

Prices:

4x2 single cab - R109 900.

4x4 single cab - R148 000.

4x4 double cab - R160 000

A Bolero 4X2 double cab will arrive in August and its price will be announced at the time of launch.
