Brand, Germany - The 'standard' Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4² is already a rather extreme version of the G-Class, with its 22-inch rims, 450mm ride height and Unimog-style portal axles, but as we've come to expect by now, anything anyone else can do, German tuner Mansory can do even more extremely.

Though the G500 4x4²'s basic dimensions remain - given that it already boasts a 229mm-wider track than the standard G-Class - Mansory's version has been slapped all over with that marvellously light stuff called carbon fibre.

"Carbon fibre as far as the eye can see" is how Mansory aptly describes its creation, from the new front spoiler to the grille, bonnet, wheel arches, mirror housings, roof, spoiler, rear apron and more.

But this beast is about more than just saving weight and showing off, with the G500's 4-litre twin-turbo V8 AMG motor receiving an electronic upgrade and sports exhaust system, increasing its outputs by 47kW and 100Nm to 357kW/710Nm.

The German tuner also hauled out its sewing machines to give the cabin a comprehensive makeover, with almost all of the interior furnishings having been hand-crafted specifically for this vehicle. Final garnishes come in the form of logos, beading and decorative stitching to match the sky blue exterior colour which Mansory dubs "stairway to heaven".

Each to their own.
