BMW has created a special M3 edition for the SEMA show, celebrating 30 years of the M3 in that country with some racy accessories and an ultra-patriotic red, white and blue colour scheme.

Based on the manual-transmission M3 Competition Package, the 30 Years American Edition gets a special Frozen Red II Metallic exterior paint job with a low gloss, frost-like finish, as well as DTM-inspired M Performance Golden alloy wheels, 19” front and 20” rear and M colour roof stripes.

M Performance Parts come in the form of an adjustable sports suspension system that allows the driver to lower the car by between 5mm and 20mm, a large aerodynamic rear wing and valve-controlled performance exhaust system with titanium rear silencer.

Beneath the bonnet, however, it makes do with the stock 3-litre, twin-turbo six-cylinder motor, that produces 331kW and 550Nm in Competition Pack form.

While the exterior colour scheme remains tastefully restrained, BMW’s interior designers did go on a 'red, white and blue' rampage on the inside, with tri-tone seats and various matching inlays on the dashboard and door panels.

Alcantara and carbon trim, along with tri-colour M stitching, add further flavour to the interior of this one-off special edition.

And yes, it is for sale, to one lucky American. Interested buyers will be able to enquire at the SEMA show, although there is no mention of price as yet. But it’s likely that if you have to ask...
