Peugeot has added an automatic transmission to its Peugeot 3008 crossover range.
The new 3008 Premium 1.6 THP auto links the company's latest six-speed self-shifter to the 115kW/240Nm, 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine already on sale in South Africa in manual-gearbox models.
The third-generation AT6 transmission with manual sequential mode is lighter and more compact than its predecessor, with a revised torque converter to reduce friction-related losses. More direct hydraulic control and revised electronic control unit mapping allow rapid multiple gear-changes, says the maker.
The self-shifting 3008 accelerates from 0-100 in 9.5sec and has a top speed of 202 km/h. Average fuel consumption is quoted as 7.7 litres/100 km with CO2 emissions of 178 g/km.
The Peugeot 3008 Premium 1.6 THP Auto costs R295 000, including a three-year or 100 000km warranty and a five-year or 90 000 km service plan.
