Daihatsu's SA-market Terios SUV has been kitted with a satellite navigation system and other features intended to improve its off-road capabilities - but at some extra cost.

These include a front bush-bar with spotlights, a tow-hitch and side-step bars, while ground clearance has been raised 50mm to 250mm and wider 235/70-R16 tyres have been fitted in place of the previous 215/65-R16 tackies.

The exhaust system is now a stainless-steel, free-flow unit, increasing power 10kW to 87kW and torque 10Nm to 150Nm - and making it sound a little less wussy!

Remote-controlled central locking with immobiliser is now standard, as are heavy-seat covers.

Terios prices:

4x2 manual: R169 995

4x4 manual: R186 995

4x4 automatic: R196 995

4x4 upgrade: R209 995

The Terios comes with a three-year or 100 000km warranty and three-year or 75 000km service plan.
