A metallic feast awaits petrolheads at Pretoria’s Zwartkops Raceway this Sunday as Cars in the Park celebrates its 34th year as Africa’s biggest vintage and classic vehicle show.

The gates open at 8am and entry costs R60 per person (children under 12 free), which gives access to a vast selection of motorised golden oldies on display. Organised by the Pretoria Old Motor Club, Cars in the Park will showcase about 3000 cars and motorcycles representing more than 102 clubs from across South Africa.

This year’s special focus is on cars manufactured before 1940, as well as American muscle cars and a selected number of hotrods, including motorcycles.

THUNDER TOUR

Cars in the Park will also be the starting point for the annual Thunder Tour, in which about 50 street rods, muscle cars and supercars will leave from Zwartkops for a week-long tour of South Africa, ending in Margate on Saturday 10 August.

The day promises a fun-filled time for the whole family, which includes a safe kids’ entertainment and play area, karting, and a Market on the Track with more than 100 stalls featuring a variety of food, arts and crafts and motor memorabilia.
