Sisters will be doing it for themselves at Killarney on Saturday 16 August.

Cape Town – With the sixth round of the Power Series at Killarney falling on Women’s Day, the MSA’s official Women in Motorsport celebration will be held this coming Saturday, 16 August, featuring a full programme, starting with registration - on a first come, first served basis – from 8am and a ‘Day at the Races’ breakfast from 9am in the Clubhouse.

Entrance to the circuit is free for ladies but you’ll have to pay R30 to get your guy in – in fact the breakfast, which includes a gift and the chance of winning a prize (the top prize is a ride in a professional drift car!) for the best-dressed lady, is just about the only thing the ladies will be asked to pay for.

The cost is R50 and pre-booking is essential: contact Vicki Fourie ([email protected]) at 078 894 6399.

Then the engines will really start revving with GTI Challenge passenger hot laps (free for the ladies but R50 a time for the boys) and ladies-only motorcycle track sessions and safety training - bring your own bike.

The guys will have their own motorcycle track sessions later – but they’ll pay R80 each for the privilege.

Fantastic Racing will be offering outdoor karting on the K circuit with 270cc Honda race karts and Imperial Toyota Cape Gate will sponsor skidpan sessions in demo vehicles.

Live to Race will host hot laps in sports cars for charity organisations such as Reach for a Dream and VIP guests; Team Red will get up close and personal with a drifting demonstration on the tar oval during the lunch break and again after the main circuit closes at 4pm.

There will be free entertainment – including jumping castles - for the kids all day.

A variety of stalls, both motoring-orientated and not, and the clubhouse will remain open all day for your refreshment.
