Bloemfontein - A multi-vehicle accident in the Free State has left three people dead and four more injured, paramedics said on Monday.
The accident, which involved four vehicles, took place on the N8 between Bloemfontein and Petrusburg on Sunday evening.
Netcare spokesperson Nick Dollman explained that paramedics arrived at the scene at around 7.30pm and attended to seven patients, including a baby.
"The patients sustained injuries ranging from relatively minor to severe.
"Tragically three of the seven had sustained severe injuries and died at the scene and fire fighters were called upon to use the 'Jaws of Life' to extricate them."
Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support paramedics, meanwhile, attended to a male patient who had sustained serious injuries and analgesic medication was administered to manage his pain.
