Cops have caught five suspects who robbed the Clicks store in Three Anchor Bay on Thursday.
The skelms are due to appear in Cape Town Magistrates’ Court today.
The armed suspects were nabbed within three hours after the incident through the help of the local CCTVs in the area.
They had stormed into the shop, located on the corner of Glengarriff and Main Road in Three Anchor Bay, where they gunpointed the staff and stole electronic appliances.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg says the circumstances surrounding the business robbery are being investigated.
“According to reports, unknown suspects entered the store and threatened staff with a firearm,” he says.
“The suspects fled the scene with electronic equipment in a white vehicle.
“It can be confirmed that five suspects between the ages of 21 and 40 were arrested and are expected to make a court appearance in Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 4 October 2021.”
No one was injured during the incident, Dhevan Pillay, Clicks Chief Store Operations Officer confirms: “No customers and staff were hurt.
“The SAPS responded speedily and the suspects were apprehended.”
According to a Facebook post by the Sea Point Community Improvement District, the arrest was made after the CID’s team successfully tracked the vehicle using available footage from their CCTV.
Heather Tager, the Chief Operations Officer, commended the team for their swift response in obtaining information required from the CCTV cameras that resulted in an arrest.
