Polokwane - A Polokwane businessman awaiting trial for the murder of his wife, has been re-arrested in connection with a 2013 murder of another man, Limpopo police said on Friday.

“Rameez Patel, who was awaiting trial for the murder of his wife Fatima, was arrested this (on Friday) morning at his workplace for the alleged murder of Tony Adams from Westenburg in 2013,” Colonel Ronel Otto said.

“It is alleged that Adams was seen entering the yard of Mr Patel unlawfully. He was then allegedly assaulted with a hockey stick and his body dumped in the parking area of a nearby supermarket.”

Otto said Patel was expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Patel is accused of killing his wife at their Nirvana townhouse complex in Polokwane in April.

Patel told the court that he was innocent and that his wife was killed by robbers.

He is out on bail of R250 000 and was expected to appear in court on September 22.

Otto said the body of Fatima Patel was exhumed last week for forensic tests.
