Dar es Salaam - Four people have died of cholera and 90 are being treated for the disease in the Tanzanian commercial capital of Dar es Salaam, municipal officials said Tuesday.

"Two died on Saturday and the others on Sunday," Gaston Makwembe, an official from the Dar es Salaam City Council told Associated Foreign Press.

Cholera often breaks out in Dar es Salaam and some of the latest cases were reported late in September.

Municipal authorities have embarked on a public awareness campaign in the city in a bid to curb the spread of the disease. Sapa-AFP
