Johannesburg - A 32-year-old Kenya man has been arrested in Murang’a for allegedly raping and sodomising his 70-year-old mother.
The man from Kandegenya village in Mugoiri location, Kahuro sub-county is said to have committed the act on July 25 at their home where he lived alone with his elderly parent. He threatened to kill her if she told anybody, the Nairobi News reported on Friday.
However, the incident came to light at the end of last month when family members met for a gathering and noticed the old woman walking with difficulty and pressed her to explain what was wrong.
The victim was then taken to Thika Level Five Hospital where it was confirmed that she had been raped and sodomised and had a sexually transmitted disease.
It was only then that the granny revealed to her other children that the son had instructed her to burn the mattress and the blanket after the act, adding that this was not the first time the man had raped and sodomised her.
The suspect who had been on the run from police was arrested on Thursday after residents notified the police.
