Zuma heads to Great Lakes Summit

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will attend the 5th Ordinary Summit of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) in Luanda, Angola, the international relations department said on Tuesday.

Member states of the ICGLR would discuss peace, stability and development in the region, spokesman Clayson Monyela said in a statement.

“(It will) focus on the current situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Central African Republic (CAR) and South Sudan.”

The summit would be held on Wednesday.

The ICGLR members are Angola, Burundi, CAR, Republic of Congo, DRC, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.

Zuma will be accompanied by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
