Johannesburg - AfriForum will approach the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday to apply for an interdict compelling a Limpopo municipality to provide water to residents.

The civil rights organisation had asked the Vhembe District Municipality to provide water to the residents of Louis Trichardt (Makhado) as the mandated water provider, said AfriForum lawyer Werner Human.

Human said the municipality ignored the request. Residents had been without water for months.

He said the respondents in the case were Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale, the Water Affairs Minister Edna Molewa, the Makhado Municipality and the Vhembe District Municipality. - Sapa
