Cape Town - A young man who allegedly raped and strangled his own cousin to death after she predicted her own murder, has made a brief appearance at court.

Yagyah Rubain, 19, appeared at the Simons’ Town Magistrate's Court last Thursday for his bail application.

But the case was hit with another delay when prosecutors indicated the investigation was still in progress.

The case was postponed to 28 September.

Rubain is accused of raping and murdering his 14-year-old cousin, Camron Britz in July.

It is alleged Camron was lured to Rubain’s secret lair in the bush in Slangkop Road, Ocean View, under the pretence that her father was calling her.

On the same day, residents led cops to Rubain’s makeshift

bunker in the bush near where Camron’s body was found.

Police obtained blood samples from sand at the bunker.

Camron went missing on Saturday after she was supposed to sleep over at a friend’s home across the street from her house.

Prosecutors have since indicated several witnesses that could identify Rubain after he was allegedly last seen with Camron at a community bonfire.

Weeks before her death, Camron had written a letter and poems describing her death and said relatives would be “spyt” and cry for her.
