Do you have something tucked away in a cupboard that was given to you that you would dearly love to have valued but have never quite known where to go to get an appraisal?
For many owners of valuables, the very idea of going to an auction is daunting and many have no idea where they can go to have items reputedly valued.
The valuations service at the upcoming National Cape Antiques Fair, at Alphen Estate, Constantia, is a once-off opportunity to take your most cherished items to be appraised by well-respectedauctioneers Stephan Welz.
Anton Welz and his team of experts in various collecting fields will be on hand to look and appraise your valuables.
Normally valuators charge a percentage of what the item is worth, but at the National Cape Antiques Fair theywill be doing valuations in aid of the SA Riding for Disabled (SARDA), a charity organisation that does valuable work in the community. There is no fixed valuation fee but you are encouraged to make a donation when having an item valued.
The National Cape Antiques Fair takes place from Friday to Sunday November 17 to 19, at the Great Cellar, Alphen Estate, Constantia, from 10am to 6pm. Entry is R50 each, in aid of Sarda. Valuations will take place daily from 10am to 4pm.
A charity opening night event will be held on Thursday November 16. Tickets, at R100 each, can be bought at the door or through Quicket.
