After being arrested on Christmas Eve for speeding in his blue Maserati, DJ Black Coffee has gained little sympathy online.

The much-loved controversial DJ made headlines this weekend after being arrested for driving at 200km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 highway near the Maraisburg bridge in Florida, west of Joburg.

Following his arrest and release on bail of R800, he shared an apology on both his Facebook and Twitter pages.

He wrote: “As some of you may have learnt, on the eve of Christmas, December 24, I committed the unfortunate offence of driving beyond the recommended speed limit... I am aware that this is the season most rife with road carnage, therefore, adhering to the road laws... I’m inclined to express my deepest regrets.”

This still didn’t mend things with his fans though, with some questioning his “role model” status and others mocking his mistake.

@Unathi_Kwaza tweeted: “Black Coffee... From cheating scandals to speeding scandals... Careful who your kids consider a role model”

@JustZweli wrote: “Black Coffee was speeding because he can. 99% of us have & do. Sorry he was caught.”
