Durban - The body of a 9-year-old Phoenix boy, who went missing while he was on his way to school on Thursday, was found yesterday, close to where he disappeared.

Police spokesman Thulani Zwane said the body of Shahiel Sewpujun, a Grade 5 pupil at Clayhaven Primary School, was found in a manhole.

A murder case has been opened.

The boy had left home on foot soon after 7am. His family realised that he did not arrive at school when they returned from work.

They went to the house of a teacher, who phoned the school. The class teacher confirmed he had not been to class. – Mercury Reporter
