Johannesburg – A seven-year-old boy drowned after falling into a swimming pool in Bloubosrand in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Sunday evening, paramedics said.

At the time of their arrival, ER24 paramedics found the child receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from a local emergency service provider at about 6.20pm, ER24 spokeswoman Annine Siddall said.

"ER24 paramedics performed advance life support and then transported the child to a nearby hospital in the area. Unfortunately nothing could be done for the child and he was later declared dead at the hospital," Siddall said.
