A distraught Uitsig mother says her 13-year-old son has been kidnapped and is being held at a Ravensmead home.
She says despite cops knowing where her son is, police have still not extracted him or made any arrests.
Brandon Joseph was reported missing earlier this month but his mom Lisie Collins says he is being held at a home in Colorado Street in Ravensmead and when they tried to fetch him last Friday, they were chased away by the armed occupants.
“We heard that Brandon was kidnapped by a man who stays there and when the community and I went to fetch him, the people chased us away with guns,” says Lisie.
“The cops were there also but they did not arrest anybody.
“Should they not have taken the people away for kidnapping Brandon?”
According to Lisie, Brandon was snatched in Uitsig Avenue while walking back to their home in Begonia Road after playing at a friend’s house.
“We do not know what is going on because we know Brandon is in that house but the police are not doing anything about it,” the frustrated mom says.
“I do not understand how somebody can take my child and I cannot do anything about it.
“We just want him back home and keep him safe.”
But according to SAPS’ Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Brandon was taken out of the house and is currently being held in a place of safety.
“Approximately 100 Uitsig community members arrived at the scene in Colorado Street and threatened to demolish the structure on Friday, 13 August,” he says.
“Police arrived on the scene to calm matters down.
“Upon inspection of the property, a 13-year-old boy was found at the premises and was taken away to a safe space by the investigating officer while investigation into the matter continues.”
A shocked Lisie says she was not informed of this, but is adamant that her son is still being held captive.
“I know he is still there, the people here all also know it. body.copy.three...: “Other people, who stay close by, still saw him at that house yesterday (Monday) and we are very upset that kidnappers are still walking free instead of being arrested.”
