Cancercare Rondebosch is hosting its annual Cancer Survivors’ Day on Saturday September 9, at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
It’s the 17th event since it started in 2000 and is set to be an inspirational experience for cancer survivors and their families.
“The goal is to acknowledge the people who are treated with us and to recognise the journey they have undertaken with cancer. It is also a chance for us to raise awareness around the fact that this illness can be treated and that people can live long and productive lives with cancer,” said Cancercare oncology social worker Linda Greeff.
Ms Greeff said that care, courage and inspiration were the three words that defined the event, which was designed to break down the stigma of cancer as a life-threatening illness and tell inspirational stories.
The Cancer Survivors’ Day starts at 8.30am and includes a high tea, speakers and some insights into developments in oncology treatments from an oncologist’s point of view.
Entry is free, but tickets are limited. Contact Joleen.
