Two vuilgat cops who allegedly stole a patrol van and went on a drug-fuelled joyride are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today after they were busted in Hillview.
According to a source, the two constables from the Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) were found with a stash of tik, Mandrax pille and Castle beers while lamming in a patrol van stolen from Strandfontein SAPS.
“They were arrested in Hillview on Wednesday by the Anti-Corruption Unit. They somehow stole the van and went to St Edwards Street in the Nissan double cab.
“Muizenberg police were contacted by the community and they were found with 14 packets of tik, five full Mandrax tablets, one half Mandrax tablet and four bottles of Castle beers.
“They were both off duty but are stationed at Mitchells Plain CPU.”
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, confirms the arrest.
“The circumstances surrounding an incident where two males were arrested near to St Edward Street, Hillview, on Wednesday are under investigation,” he says.
“According to reports, Muizenberg police responded to a complaint and found a male person sitting inside the police vehicle.
“Upon inspection, they discovered drugs and alcohol.”
He confirms that both suspects are off duty police officers and says they also face drug dealing charges.
“The Anti-Corruption Unit are investigating cases of dealing in drugs, possession of drugs and use of a vehicle without owner’s consent.
